4K Resolution Realised by e-shift 2 Technology (DLA-X95R/X75R/X55R)

Using JVC's original e-shift technology, it is possible to shift each pixel diagonally by 0.5 pixels to multiply the resolution and achieve 4K imaging. Our totally revamped optical engine featuring the new e-shift 2 Technology with improved planarity property and transmittance performance results in vastly increased detail and sharp focusing of the image periphery. JVC's extreme 4K resolution delivers enjoyment of dynamic images with immersive presence to every corner of the screen.

Scaler for the e-shift 2 Technology — Multiple Pixel Control (DLA-X95R/X75R/X55R)

Superior image processing technology is essential in order to reproduce full HD resolution images on a 4K projector. By advancing our image processing technology to new levels based on JVC's original algorithm, we were able to develop a new high-performance 4K scaling engine as a part of the e-shift 2 Technology to reproduce full HD images with maximum definition and also convert them to even higher quality 4K-resolution images. With Multiple Pixel Control, the detection range has been vastly expanded to over ten times that of conventional models*, making it possible to detect a wide range of signal bands within the frame. What's more, based on high-precision detection results — which uses a improved detector with refined bandwidth division from a conventional 2 bands to 8 bands — JVC's original image quality processing that performs optimum filtering, dynamically controls the background blur and focus is applied, resulting in natural, expressive 4K images. Moreover, five types of 4K Profiles are available to apply optimal processing to each specific type of visual material. It is therefore possible to play back high-quality images while enjoying the best any source has to offer.

e-shift 2 Technology's Image Processor: Multiple Pixel Control

Equipped with a newly developed high-performance 4K scaling engine.

Wide-range picture element detection

Wider signal range can be detected within a frame thanks to a 10-fold increase in image component detection range from a conventional 6 x 6 pixels to 21 x 21 pixels. This improvement helps to detect even minute details to achieve more natural and realistic video reproduction.

High-performance filtering

Detection-range segmentation has been improved from a conventional 2 bands to 8 bands to perform high-precision filtering. This helps to achieve highly detailed image reproduction for a broader range of bandwidths.

Generation of character optimized images

Natural looking video images with a sense of dimensionality can be achieved because it is now possible to dynamically control focusing separately, such as the background and foreground, from the results achieved through high-precision detection.

Foreground in focus and background defocused to reproduce images with dimensionality.
Pictures are simulated to represent the results.

4K Profiles

Five 4K profiles are available to apply optimal processing to each specific type of visual material.

Content Type Description
FILM For viewing movies produced using films.
High Resolution For viewing Blu-ray Disc works.
HD*1 For viewing TV broadcasting and recorded works.
SD*2 For viewing DVD works.
Dynamic For enhanced effects.

  • ・Please select SD in viewing recorded works procuced with Standard Definition.
  • *1 HD is abbreviation for High Definition.
  • *2 SD is abbreviation for Standard Definition.

Pixel Analyzer (analysis screen)

Pixel Analyzer is an original analysis screen that facilitates achieving preferred high-definition video that matches the individual characteristics of the image using its 4K profile. Video signals pass through a multi-band filter for analysis that is then color-separated by frequency bands, which can be viewed on the screen. User-preferred, effective results can be achieved by selecting parameters that match the image.

Adjustment Points

In order to achieve images with superior expression and dimensionality, three adjustment points are provided. By turning of the 4K profile off, it is possible to adjust in the original 2K resolution.

Item Setting Range Description
Enhance 0 to 100 Enhances the sharpness of the image.
Dynamic Contrast 0 to 100 Enhances the contrast of the image.
Smoothing 0 to 100 Enhances the blurriness of the image for a softer effect.
  • With Pixel Analyzer, it is possible to recognize in advance the adjustment points in which adjustment will look the most pronounced via color of the analysis display. Note: Displayed colors vary depending on the 4K profile.
